The City is hiring summer students for positions in parks maintenance, horticulture, and sports fields, with hourly wages ranging from $17.60 to $19.60. All roles run from May 4 to August 14, 2026, and require availability for mandatory training in early May. Applications close March 1, 2026, and must be submitted through the City of Sarnia’s online job board

Positions are open to students returning to full-time studies in September 2026 and require a valid G2 driver’s licence, the ability to perform physical outdoor work in all weather conditions, and strong teamwork and communication skills. Vacancies include up to 17 parks maintenance roles, up to five horticulture roles focused on maintaining garden beds, planters, and hanging baskets, and up to six sports field roles supporting the upkeep of baseball diamonds, artificial turf, and outdoor sports facilities. All positions are full-time, offering up to 40 hours per week and include shift work, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Temporary student employees receive access to the City’s Employee and Family Assistance Plan, and the option to enrol in the OMERS pension plan.
