Kenneth “Ken” Maitland passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Hospice on Sunday, December 28, 2025, in his 83rd year, after an illness which he bore with strength, humour and grace.
Proud father of Steve (Jo-Ella), Jeff (Chris) and Lisa (Jamie). He loved and was so very proud of his grandchildren Jenna (Tara), Jessi (Kurt), Landon, Shane (Carlee), Hanna, Ben, Matt and Nolan. Ken was predeceased by his loving wife Karen and his son Blain. He will be missed greatly by his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and friends.
Ken was content and happy through his life and never lost his sense of humour. He was always dependable, reliable and responsible. He was hardworking, kind and charismatic. He was a good man.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Orla MacSweeney and her staff as well as Dr. Evan Lilly and the staff at St Joseph’s Hospice Sarnia-Lambton for their attentive care and support. A special thank you as well to Ken’s favourite nurses Mary and Donna for their kindness and compassion that brightened Ken’s final days.
Cremation has taken place. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
