Sarnia Centers Draw National Attention

The Sarnia Sting organization has positioned itself as a primary developer of professional talent ahead of the 2026 draft. At the forefront of this emerging class are centers Alessandro Di Iorio and Beckham Edwards. Both forwards have secured spots on the Central Scouting watch list for the NHL, signaling a bright future for the club.

Alessandro Di Iorio has earned an A rating, which projects him as a first-round candidate. Conversely, Edwards holds a B rating, placing him firmly in the conversation as a second or third-round pick. Their presence gives Sarnia a distinct advantage down the middle of the ice.

Di Iorio Returns with Impact

Di Iorio has shown remarkable resilience early in his tenure. Despite an injury that kept him out of action, his return to the lineup has been substantial. In fact, the center recorded 10 points in just 14 games immediately following his recovery.

He is building on a rookie campaign where he tallied 11 goals and 27 assists. Standing 6'1", Di Iorio is viewed as a high-upside two-way center. Scouts suggest his offensive ceiling is elite. Therefore, NHL franchises seeking long-term stability are likely to monitor his progress closely.

Edwards Leads Scoring Pace

Beckham Edwards provides a different but equally dangerous element to the roster. He currently leads the team with 5 goals and 12 points in 10 games. This output follows a rookie season where he scored 25 goals and received OHL all-rookie honors.

Moreover, his physical development is evident. Edwards has increased his frame to the 170-181 lbs range, making him a more formidable power-play threat. It seems that while casual observers check trusted NHL betting sites for team odds, professional scouts are far more focused on the individual trajectory of players like Edwards. His combination of size and scoring touch translates well to the next level.

Depth Prospects Bolster Roster

The Sting organization benefits from depth beyond just the top two centers. A significant number of other players are making strong cases for draft consideration.

  • Ryan Brown (LW) has earned a C rating, projecting him for the 4th or 5th round. He has posted 8 points in 10 games, driven by sharp offensive instincts.
  • Brenner Lammens (F), the No. 4 OHL draft pick, brings a physical edge as an agitator with scoring punch.
  • Chase Gaughan (C), Kase Kamzik (LW), Matthew Manza (RW), and Patrick Quinlan (G) are all listed as W-rated prospects, serving as late-round sleepers for the club.

Organization Looks to the Future

The sheer volume of talent in Sarnia is noteworthy. With seven players currently on the watch list, the team is cultivating a group ready for professional advancement.

Especially for Di Iorio and Edwards, the opportunities are expanding. They continue to prove they possess the necessary tools for the NHL. Due to this depth, the 2026 draft is shaping up to be a defining moment for the Sting program.
