Sarnia-Lambton Rebound has officially renamed its youth space, formerly known as The HUB, to The NEST, and is inviting the community to an open house event.
The new name, The NEST, is meant to evoke a feeling of safety and rest, serving as a temporary, vital space where young people are nurtured and prepared for future growth. The name is also an acronym for the program's mission in action: Navigate, Empower, Support, Thrive.
The change was made to reflect Rebound’s commitment to ensuring youth voices guide the program's growth and development. Michelle Holbrook, Executive Director of Sarnia-Lambton Rebound, stated, "Renaming this space to The NEST reflects exactly what we want young people to feel when they walk through our doors; safe, supported, and truly seen". She added, "The NEST represents the youth’s vision for a space that feels welcoming, inclusive, and grounded in belonging".
The NEST is a safe, inclusive drop-in space located at St. Luke’s Church for youth aged 12 to 24 to gather, connect, and access support in a welcoming environment. As an integrated youth service, the program brings together over 25 community partner organizations under one roof. The program served 189 youth in 2024-25, and provided 3,372 dinners to young people.
Along with the name change, The NEST recently underwent much-needed upgrades thanks to community grant funding, and now features freshly painted rooms, updated window treatments, a new refrigerator, and new office equipment. Program Lead Nicole Elliott remarked, “These upgrades show young people that our community sees the importance of the program and what it means to the people who are a part of it".
The community is invited to celebrate the renaming at the open house on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The NEST, located at 350 Indian Road, South, Sarnia. Guests are suggested to bring a gift card to donate, kicking off the season of giving.
