A local gem, CakeBook Cafe and Classes, is set to mark its first year in business this Saturday with a full day of free, family-friendly activities and treats to thank the Sarnia-Lambton community.

The celebration is happening on Saturday, November 15th, at the cafe's location at 1362 Lambton Mall Road. Owner Svetlana has organized several events for all ages throughout the day, kicking off with free gingerbread cookie decorating from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon (one per person). Following that, a live cotton candy spinning demonstration will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.. The cafe will also serve an anniversary mini cupcake tower, with free mini cupcakes available to guests while supplies last.

The festivities will culminate in the evening with the launch of the cafe's signature warm drink and will lead into the plaza-wide event, “We Light Up the Night,” which begins at 6:00 p.m. and will see the entire plaza illuminate to mark the start of the holiday season.

"This anniversary means a lot to me,” Svetlana said. “It has been a year of early mornings, late nights, learning, creating, and endless support from so many wonderful people. I want to say thank you to everyone who made CakeBook a small part of their everyday life”.

All events are free to attend, and the community is encouraged to stop by to share in the celebration.
