With broken hearts, we share the passing of Dan Placzek, who passed away peacefully at Bluewater Health – Sarnia on November 4, 2025, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 83.
Dan is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Anne (Hart); his children Andon Placzek (Erin), Karen Orr (Steve), and Tracey Hart (Richard); and his cherished grandchildren Olivia Placzek (Storm), Nick Placzek, Lindsay Orr (Taylor), and Brendan Orr. He will be deeply missed by his sister Pat Meraw, his brother Jim Placzek (Tip), and many nieces and nephews who adored their Uncle Dan.
He was predeceased by his parents Tony and Agatha Placzek, his sister Gail, and his beloved grandson Devon.
Born and raised in Corunna, Dan spent most of his life in Sarnia, where he worked proudly as an electrician. His greatest accomplishment and source of pride was the home he built with his own hands, a place filled with love, laughter, and family. Dan found his greatest peace outdoors, tending to his beautiful garden, a haven he lovingly cared for and shared with family and friends.
Dan will be remembered always for his quiet strength, his devotion to family, and his deep appreciation for life’s simple joys.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to relatives and friends for their love and support, and to the nurses and doctors in Palliative Care at Bluewater Health for their compassion and exceptional care.
Honouring Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
