With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sylvia Doreen Blais on Friday, October 17, 2025, at Bluewater Health, just two days shy of her 77th birthday. Born and raised in Petrolia, Sylvia lived a life full of warmth, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to her family. Sylvia was the beloved wife of Baron Blais, married 56 years, and a cherished daughter of the late Glenn “Gar” Tims and Cynthia “Nan” Tims. She was a devoted mother to Sean Blais (Michelle) and Jason Blais (Heidi), and a proud grandmother to Crystal, Olivia, Cole, Patrick, and Abigail Blais. Her love extended deeply to her sister Cheryll Frank, and she held close memories of her late brother-in-law Sheldon Frank. She was a treasured aunt to Noelle, Marc, and Ryan Frank, and a loving great-aunt to Savannah and Brianna Frank. Sylvia’s passions were as vibrant as her spirit. She found joy in reading, journaling, and writing to her pen pals. She adored horses, pink carnations, the color red and her many beloved fur babies. Her competitive streak came alive in games of Scrabble, card games and computer games with friends. She especially cherished holiday dinners and time spent with family. Sylvia’s wisdom, insight, and unconditional love made her the most caring mother and friend one could ever hope for. She gave freely of herself, always ready with thoughtful advice and a listening ear. Her legacy is one of kindness, strength, and deep familial love. Sylvia will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. An Open House will be held at the Smith Family Centre (in front of Smith Funeral Home), 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the War Amps (cheques only at the funeral home, please).
