METCALFE, James “Jim” Roddick born April 29, 1943 to George and Margaret, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones.
Jim was the cherished partner of Maxine McDonald and loving father of Steve (Angela) and Heather (Tim). He was a beloved grandfather to Dawson (Karlee) and Emily (Drew) and great grandfather to James, Andrew, Mae, Ellie and Beau. He is survived by his sister, Judy Clendenning and many nieces and nephews. Jim is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy (nee Sewter) and his brothers, Reg and Bob.
Jim retired from ICI/Terra at aged 55 after many years. Outside of work, Jim was extremely handy. He enjoyed building things and carving with the Triple C Carvers. He volunteered at Vision Nursing Home when his mother-in-law was a resident. He was a long time member of St Luke’s church serving in various ways and helping with the upkeep of the church.
The last year and half of his life, Jim was a vibrant and beloved resident and member of the Rosewood Retirement home family. Jim’s family would like to thank the incredible and loving staff at Rosewood who made Jim thrive. They would also like to thank the wonderful Bluewater Health staff who took such good care of him.
Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Luke’s United Church or to the charity of your choice. Cheques can be accepted by Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, ON.
