Construction is set to begin on a new splash pad at Kenwick Park in Bright's Grove, thanks to a generous donation from the Pat and Val Gladwish Foundation.

Work on the donation-supported project is expected to mobilize on site starting October 14, 2025. The splash pad is being built in honour of Patrick Gladwish, Val Gladwish's late husband, after she approached the City with her vision, which was inspired by a similar splash pad she enjoyed with her grandchildren in Orillia. The Sarnia City Council approved the donation earlier this year.

Val Gladwish views the project as "both a legacy to Pat’s values and as an investment in the continued growth of the community".

The design will feature natural elements aimed at keeping families active and engaged. Southwest Fence and Decks Limited was selected as the contractor following a competitive tender process.

Mayor Mike Bradley expressed gratitude, stating he is "happy to see this project moving forward and grateful to the Pat and Val Gladwish Foundation for making this meaningful community space possible — a place that will bring families together for years to come".

The City is targeting completion for the spring of 2026, ahead of the aquatics season, with minimal impacts expected on the park during construction. An opening celebration is being planned for the new facility.
