It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard (Rick, affectionately known as “Tricky Ricky”) on October 11, 2025. Rick left this world surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Toronto, Rick lived over the years in Brigden, Bracebridge, and Sarnia. He will be deeply missed by his son Tyler; stepdaughter Tara (Dan); grandson Kaleb; sisters Ellen (Alan) and Paula (Chris); his beloved cat Buddy; cherished friends (you know who you are); and extended family. He was predeceased by his wife Donna, parents Phyllis and `William, brother James, and the family cat Slacker.
Throughout his career, Rick worked in carpentry, flooring installation, and most recently at a golf course alongside his son Tyler and best friend Greg. A true outdoorsman, Rick found great joy and peace in nature—especially on the golf course.
Rick had many passions: music (he rarely lost a game of music trivia), gardening, hockey (a loyal Red Wings fan), and most of all, spending time with family and friends.
Always generous and kind-hearted, Rick never hesitated to lend a helping hand. He approached life with optimism, humour, and resilience, facing health challenges with unwavering strength and a trademark twinkle in his eye. Rick’s wit and expressive gestures, whether an eye roll, raised eyebrow, or subtle smirk, spoke volumes.
As per his wishes, Rick will be cremated. A Celebration of his Life will be held at a later date
Those wishing to honour Rick’s memory may make a donation to the MS Society, a cause close to his heart in tribute to his late wife Donna, or to a charity of their choice.
