Indspire bursaries help Indigenous students build brighter futures

Indigenous students in Sarnia–Lambton are being encouraged to apply for Indspire’s Building Brighter Futures: Bursaries, Scholarships, and Awards program before the next deadline on November 1.

The national charity, which supports First Nations, Inuit, and Métis learners across Canada, provides financial assistance for students pursuing full- or part-time studies in college, university, skilled trades, apprenticeships, and technology programs.

For many students in the region—including those studying at Lambton College or connected to nearby Indigenous communities such as Aamjiwnaang, Kettle and Stony Point, and Walpole Island First Nations—the bursary can make a real difference in continuing their education.

Since its launch in 1996, Indspire has awarded more than $248 million through over 75,000 bursaries and scholarships, helping Indigenous students reach their academic and career goals. The program continues to grow, processing more than 6,000 applications last year—the highest number to date.

Unlike many other funding programs, Indspire allows recipients to use their awards where they need it most, whether for tuition, childcare, housing, or cultural support. Applicants only need to complete one online application to be considered for all eligible bursaries and scholarships.
