Community Living Sarnia-Lambton (CLSL) has received a $38,000 Resilient Communities Funding grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to invest in organizational development initiatives. The funding is aimed at improving staff recruitment, retention, and the quality and safety of care delivery.

Local MPP Bob Bailey met with the CLSL team to hear about the grant, which he said will ensure staff "have all the tools necessary to continue delivering their high levels of service". Bailey noted that CLSL is an "invaluable organization" that provides life-changing service and support to clients and family members in the region.

The initiatives funded by the grant focus on professional development and training for both management and front-line staff. These include:

  • Person Centred Care Training

  • Leadership Development

  • Management Coaching

  • Psychological First Aid Training

  • Safe Management Training for Facilitators and Front-line staff

CLSL has been working to build back stronger following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on its staff, clients, and the community it serves. The investment in training is already resulting in improvements in management competencies, leadership capabilities, staff engagement, service quality, and safety.

"The impact of this Ontario government grant cannot be overstated,” said Jenny Greensmith, Chair of the Board of CLSL. “This grant has allowed for a range of training and development that has benefited our staff, management, clients and their families that we support”.

CLSL is dedicated to enriching the lives of people with an intellectual and/or other disability and their families by providing supports and services that promote individual choice and life goal achievement.
