The Lambton Heritage Museum is inviting families to explore the fascinating connections between food, science, and history during the upcoming PA Day with their special event, "A Taste of History."
The event is scheduled for Friday, October 10, 2025, running from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and will feature interactive activities and food history-related experiences suitable for all ages.
The PA Day activities are designed to show how food connects to our lives in many ways, from the past to the present. Highlights of the day include:
Scavenger Hunt: Families can test their observation skills throughout the Lambton Gallery, solving clues and answering questions that illuminate how food relates to culture and community.
Traditional Preservation: Visitors will have the chance to learn about traditional food preservation methods, such as pickling and jam-making.
Feature Exhibit: The event offers one of the final chances to see the "A Taste of Science" feature exhibit before it closes on October 25, 2025. Created by the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, this traveling exhibit examines the science behind preventing food spoilage and preservation.
Colleen Inglis, Educational Program Coordinator with Lambton Heritage Museum, noted that the event gives families a chance to explore how science, food, and history are deeply connected. "Whether you’re solving our scavenger hunt, learning about jamming or pickling, or exploring our feature exhibit, you’ll see how traditions of the past still shape what we eat and how we live today," Inglis said.
Admission to the event is:
Adults: $5
Seniors (65+) and Students: $4
Children: $3
Children aged three and under: Free
No registration is required for the event. For more information, visitors can visit the event page on the Museum’s website.
