Young people in the Sarnia-Lambton area are now eligible to apply for the Youth Climate Action Grant, a new funding opportunity for climate-related initiatives. The grant is being offered by the Lift 360 Foundation, with support from Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton (CASL).
The program provides up to $1,000 in funding for youth-led projects, in addition to mentorship from both the Lift 360 Foundation and Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton. According to Darcy Higgins, a co-founder of Lift 360 who grew up in Sarnia, the initiative aims to provide resources to help young people "turn their ideas into meaningful action."
The grant is open to individual youth, grassroots organizations, and collectives within Sarnia-Lambton. Priority will be given to projects from Indigenous youth, Black youth, newcomers, low-income communities, and rural areas.
Allan McKeown of Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton stated that the grant is intended to provide support for local youth who are already working on climate solutions. "We are very excited and grateful to Lift 360 for providing youth with this wonderful opportunity," he said.
The application deadline for the grant is October 18, 2025. To apply, interested parties are required to submit a short description of their project via email. The description should outline the project's climate goals, anticipated challenges, expenses up to $1,000, and its potential impact on climate justice and community resilience.
Applications and inquiries should be sent to [email protected] with the subject line "Youth Grant."
