A wave of community support has emerged for the family of a Thedford teenager, James Aaron Brown, 15, who was killed in a farming accident on Saturday, September 20, 2025.
In the wake of the tragedy, a fundraising campaign was launched on the GoFundMe platform to support the family. As of Thursday morning, the campaign had surpassed its initial goal, raising over $50,300 toward a new goal of $60,000.
The campaign, created by friends Casey VanHooydonk and Alicia Carrothers, aims to raise funds for funeral expenses, travel, food, and other immediate needs. "No parent ever expects to face the heartbreak of planning a funeral for their child," the appeal states. According to the GoFundMe page, any funds remaining after covering expenses will be placed in trust accounts for Brown's siblings.
Brown, who was set to turn 16 on October 7, was described on the page as "truly an angel on earth—kind, gentle, and full of life." An avid outdoorsman, he loved four-wheeling, fishing, and taking late-night drives, and was known as a friend who was "always ready to lend a hand."
The page also notes that for those who wish to donate in person, donations can be made to a trust in James’s name at the CIBC branch in Parkhill.
Brown was a resident of Thedford, and the family has deep roots in both the Lambton and North Middlesex communities. He is survived by his parents, Aaron and Jeanette Brown, and siblings Hunter, Chelsea, and Hannah.
