The City of Sarnia is shifting to a new four-season model for its recreation program registration, with the fall lineup available to browse online starting Sept. 2 ahead of registration opening on Sept. 16.

The City of Sarnia is changing how residents sign up for its popular recreation programs, moving to a four-season model that will separate the registration dates for fall and winter sessions.
Prospective participants can browse the complete fall program lineup online starting Tuesday, Sept. 2, with general registration opening two weeks later on Tuesday, Sept. 16.
The new approach marks a shift from the previous system, where registration for both fall and winter programs opened at the same time. City officials say the change will provide greater flexibility for staff in planning and improve the booking experience for residents, who will no longer need to commit to winter programs months in advance.
“We’re streamlining things a bit in terms of how we schedule, but our participants can still count on a full range of wellness, fitness, arts, culture, hobby and technology programs to serve every interest,” said Activities Programmer Mike Neely.
The city’s programs, offered primarily through the Strangway Centre, serve approximately 1,800 to 2,000 participants each year across more than 85 different programs and activities.
This fall’s lineup includes several returning favourites like Watercolours and Flow Yoga, alongside new offerings such as Voices in Harmony, Dancercise, Basic Italian, Chair Qi Gong, and a 50+ Pick-up Hockey league.
The full guide can be viewed starting Sept. 2 at www.sarnia.ca/Recreation. Details for some organized indoor sports will be updated closer to the registration date once locations are finalized.
Registration opens on Sept. 16 and can be completed online at www.sarnia.ca/RecRegistration, by calling 519-332-0656, or in person at the Strangway Centre or City Hall during business hours.
