The Sarnia Spirit u18 team defeated the u17 squad 2-1 to capture the EMDSL Under 17/18 Girls Tier 1 District Cup.
The Sarnia Spirit u18 team defeated the u17 squad 2-1 to capture the EMDSL Under 17/18 Girls Tier 1 District Cup.
Playing in windy conditions, both teams generated scoring chances. The u18s opened the scoring midway through the first half when Farrah Lucas scored from 10 yards out. Just before halftime, Lucas set up Isabella Raspburg, who scored with a low shot to make it 2-0.
The u17s responded in the second half as Taryn Stoukas scored from 30 yards out to cut the lead. U18 goalkeeper Katelyn Agar held strong the rest of the way, securing the win. Agar joined the team late in the season and finished undefeated, helping the squad win its second consecutive District Cup.
