Peacefully, on Monday, July 29, 2025, at London Health & Sciences Centre, Betty Anne MacDonald passed away. Pre-deceased by husband Garland (2017). Loving mother of Ian (Jennifer) MacDonald. Cherished grandmother of Ashley (Ben), Logan and Macy, and great-grandmother of Raelynn and Zealand. Survived by beloved sister Ilah (Lyle) Waters and several nieces and nephews. Dear sister of the late Dan (the late Audrey) Whitson, the late Tom (Mary) Whitson, the late Eugene (the late Dora) Whitson, the late Marie (Harry) Rottelle, the late Phyllis Whitson, and the late Wilfred Whitson. Predeceased by her brothers-in-law Marvin and Ken, and sisters-in-law Lillian and Darlene. Betty was a proud registered nurse, who retired from Marshall Gowland Manor, where she worked for many years. Betty enjoyed many hobbies, with a particular love of baking. As much passion as she had for her nursing career and hobbies, this was secondary to her love and commitment to her husband, son, grandchildren and extended Whitson clan. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. A memorial service will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. A burial of ashes will follow at a later time at Resurrection Cemetery. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Sarnia Lambton White Cane Care Centre (cheques only at the funeral home please).
