Suddenly, at her residence, Joan Williamson passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at the age of 86. Amazing mom and best friend to Dan (Shelley) and bonus son, John Lee. Mom was a helper, always going above and beyond for her children every single day. Her small acts of kindness will be missed. Reunited with her dear daughter Nancy (2022) and husband of 64 years, Ken (2019). Growing up, Joan enjoyed her time at the family cottage at Glendale Beach on Lake Huron with her siblings and cousins. She looked back fondly on these memories. She worked at the Bank of Nova Scotia for 30 years where she made many lifelong friendships. Camping was a true passion of Ken and Joan’s. They spent years travelling to Ontario Provincial Parks together in their Airstream trailer, meeting many amazing friends along the way. Pinery Provincial Park was a special place for them, where they would camp for months at a time in the Spring and Fall.
Lovingly remembered for always supporting her six grandchildren, Natalie (Justin), Lisa (Mike), Joey (Cassie), Jenna, Karisa, and Shayna (Nate). Missed by her 11 great grandchildren, whom she adored. Nana Joan made every birthday, Christmas, camping trip, and family dinner incredibly special. Joan was born in Forest, Ontario to Dorothy (1998) and Foster (1982) McPherson. She was sister to Ruth, Penny (Carm), and Rosemary (Gary). Joan loved her visits and phone calls with her sisters. Predeceased by brothers Ron (Jean) and Pete, and sister, Sylvia Sue. Joan was generous, thoughtful, and funny. She was a pillar of strength for her entire family. She will be greatly missed by many special friends and extended family members. The family wishes to express our deepest gratitude to all of her caring neighbours, especially Elaine, Jim, Derek, Sean, Sue, and Walt. Cremation has taken place. Family and friends will be received at 10:00 a.m. at Graceway Baptist Church in Sarnia, 1104 Leckie Drive and Murphy Road, on Saturday, July 26. A service will follow at 11:00 a.m. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation (cheques only at the funeral home please).
