Lambton Public Health has extended the region’s first heat warning of 2025, with high temperatures and humidity now expected to continue through Tuesday, June 24. Originally issued late last week, the warning was updated Monday morning due to continued extreme weather and elevated health risks.

Extended heat warnings are issued when oppressive conditions persist beyond two days. Prolonged exposure increases the danger for older adults, young children, people with chronic illnesses, pregnant individuals, outdoor workers, and those without access to air conditioning.

To stay safe during the heat:

  • Drink plenty of cool fluids, especially water.

  • Wear loose-fitting, light-coloured, breathable clothing.

  • Reschedule outdoor activity for cooler parts of the day.

  • Take breaks in air-conditioned or shaded spaces.

  • Check in on neighbours, friends, and older family members.

Cooling centres remain open across the county, including libraries, community centres, and health facilities. Full details and locations are available at LambtonPublicHealth.ca.

Residents can also sign up for Sarnia-Lambton Alerts at sarnialambtonalerts.ca for future weather warnings and emergency notifications.
