Following a long journey with cancer, it is with heavy hearts that the family of Brian Thomas William Boal announces his passing on May 31, 2025, at home in Sarnia (formerly of Windsor), at the age of 71.
Beloved husband of Karen Boal (née Mateciuk) for 49 wonderful years. Loving father to Brianna and her husband Chris Cotterill. Adored “Gramps” of Lincoln, who brought him endless joy and pride.
Brian will be deeply missed by his mother Ivy Boal (née Mailey) and his sister Diane Boal. He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters-in-law Sharon Pitre (Doug) and Jackie Mailloux, his nephew Chris (Tanya) and niece Sarah (Gary), and his great-nephew and great-nieces Aiden, Ella, and Laney. Survived by many cousins. Brian was a dear friend to many and cherished the lifelong connections he made.
He was predeceased by his father Harry Boal (1991) and his brothers-in-law George Mateciuk (2020) and Paul Mateciuk (2024).
Brian was a hardworking man who, upon retirement, embraced his love of the outdoors. He found peace and happiness in gardening, fishing, and boating, especially during the cherished summer months at the family cottage on Little Lake in the Bruce Peninsula—a place filled with love, laughter, and memories.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to VON Sarnia-Lambton with special appreciation to his primary nurse Belinda and Dr. David Kim (Bluewater Health Palliative Medicine) for the compassionate care provided to Brian during his final days.
In keeping with Brian’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
