Our silver blonde went to be with Jesus, her Lord & Saviour on the 27th of May, 2025. Loving wife of Jim, and devoted mother extraordinaire to Grant, Sande (Mark), Rhonda (David) and Bruce (Patty). Sadly missed by grandchildren Thomas (Elizabeth) English, Zoe and Nathaniel Davidson, Jane Story English and great grandchildren, Ellie and Tessa English. Lovingly remembered by siblings Jean (Maurice) Tetrault, Charlotte (late Tex) Cleveland, James (Karen) Collins, Virginia (late Walter) Lee, Elaine (Dave) Baldwinson, Diana (Glen) Hanke, Robert (Diane) Collins and sisters-in-law Brenda Hale and Edna (Jim) Erickson. Survived by many nieces and nephews and cousins in Canada and the USA. Predeceased by siblings Johnny Collins, Sylvia Ringrose, Hazel Jensen, Billy Collins, Olive Perrin, Garry Collins, Sharon Winkel, Faith, Grace and Angela Collins and ex husband & friend, Harvey English. Loved and cherished by her many friends and brother and sister adoptees, Don & Olive Eastman. Marlene was born to the late Alex & Annie Collins in ‘the breaks’ near Beechy Saskatchewan. She had a successful 30+ year career with Canada Employment Centre. She was warm and generous, and a wonderful homemaker, cook, pie baker, seamstress, piano player and prayer warrior. Marlene loved her home and yard in the park and walking the trails of Canatara. She was a woman of strength, resilience, integrity and fierce loyalty. Special thanks for the compassionate care provided to Marlene by a wonderful team of health providers – Dr. Kim, Dr. Lily, Dr. McSweeney, dedicated nurse Kayla Taylor and her team of nurses from Care Partners, and the kind-hearted PSWs from Home Instead, Bayshore and Care Partners. Friends and family will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Huron Baptist Church, 1285 Michigan Ave., Sarnia, (a livestream will be made available at the time of service on Marlenes memorial page) with visitation being held one hour prior at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Anglican cemetery, Watford. Donations may be made to Huron Baptist Church or Pregnancy Options & Support Centre, in her memory.
