It is with heartfelt remembrance that we announce the passing of Sandy McGeachy, aged 86, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He is now reunited with his parents, Olive and Bob McGeachy, his brothers John and Bill, and his cherished grandson Liam. Sandy was born and raised in Sarnia, Ontario, living most of his life in his beloved Modeland Road home. He attended Blackwell Public School and Sarnia Collegiate Institute and Technological School. It was at Blackwell School that he met the love of his life, Peachy, who would become his wife and life-long companion; together they created a family which grew from six to twenty-six. Sandy and Peachy’s shared values of kindness, hard work, humour, generosity, and open-hearted communication formed a strong foundation for a beautiful legacy that will continue to be an inspiration. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage. Sandy’s professional life was marked by dedication and skill. After working on Imperial Oil’s Great Lakes tanker fleet for a couple of years, Sandy pursued a career in welding, eventually becoming a highly skilled pipeline welder with Local 663. He was well-known as a great mentor and friend to everyone on the job. He also taught his trade at Lambton College for two years and owned several businesses. In his leisure time, Sandy was a man of many passions. He could often be found in his garage, tinkering with cars and machinery in the company of his beloved CBC radio hosts. Sandy’s curiosity and intellect were immense. He had a great love of books and reading, with a wide range of interests from geography and the environment to humour, history, business, and politics. Sandy and Peachy’s love for adventure and discovery led them to travel the world. They took many memorable family road trips, camping and skiing excursions, and later in life, they enjoyed extensive RV travel across Canada, the United States, and Mexico. Their travels also took them to far-flung places such as Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, and Europe, including a journey to Scotland to explore the McGeachy family roots. Sandy will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Peachy, his children Mary McGeachy (Jeff Collins), Sue Stock (Stephen), Craig McGeachy (Cindy), and Dave McGeachy (Sue). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Shayna Stock (Leo Keiser), Sharleen Stock-Yusuf (Abshir), Alexandria Currie, Rowan Collins, Simon Collins (Laura), Brandon Chow, Shawna McGeachy, and Clover McGeachy, as well as a great-grandfather to Nash and Kip Collins, Zayn Yusuf and Zephyr Stock-Yusuf. Sandy’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. His wisdom, humour, and unwavering love will continue to guide and inspire us all. The family would like to extend their immense gratitude to the staff of Afton Park Place, Mayfair wing for their exceptional care and kindness in Sandy’s final years. A private family service will be held to celebrate Sandy’s life. Remembrances and condolences may be expressed to the family online in “Sandy’s Guestbook” at mccormackfuneralhomesarnia.com. Charitable donations may be made in Sandy McGeachy’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society or the Canadian Mental Health Association.
