Lucy Katherine Snider (nee Nickel) passed away at Bluewater Health on Friday, December 13, 2024, aged 92. She was born on August 12, 1932 on the family farm at Doon, Ontario. Predeceased by first husband, Boyd Snider, and siblings Earnest and Alfred. Survived by sister Rita, husband Don Oleniuk, and children Sandra Green and Gary Snider (Donna), grandchildren Ross (Stephanie), Aaron (Kelsey), Graeme (Amanda), Scott (Amy), Ian (Luna) and Jill. Lucy was always on the go, living a generous life of love and service. She cared deeply for the natural world, and was an avid birder, gardener, and member of Lambton Wildlife. She loved her friends and fellow quilters at Central Baptist Church. Her creative spirit was expressed in her many quilts. These will continue as daily reminders of her love. Her freezer was always stocked with homemade bread and buns and there were always squares on hand for a sweet treat after every meal. Deep gratitude goes to the staff of Bluewater Health who provided compassion and kindness during Lucy's final days. The Oleniuk family, your love and journey with us has made this sorrow easier to carry. Thank you! Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. A livestream of the service will be available at the service time on Lucy’s memorial page at www.smithfuneralhome.ca.
