Peacefully at Bluewater Health, Sarnia, on Friday, October 25, 2024, at 88. Beloved father of Richard and his wife Liz (Miami), Randy (Miami), Shawn and his partner Sandra (Vancouver), Stephan (Calgary), Caroline (Petrolia), and Tracy Burrows and her husband Mark (British Columbia). Cherished grandfather of Stephanie, Peter, Robert, Jasmine, Bradley, and Brayden.
Ronald is also survived by the mother of his children, Carol Connelly; his brothers-in-law, Adelard, Ernie, and Nelson Fauvelle; sisters-in-law, Anita Brown and Linda Lacko; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Doris Connelly.
Ronald began his career as a draftsman at Ontario Northland Railroad, where he worked until the 1980s before founding his own home-building business, Shawntray Enterprises, named after two of his children. In the 1970s, Ronald served as a member of the Ontario Provincial Police Auxiliary. After caring for his mother and before his stroke, Ronald was an active member of the Near-North Palliative Care unit, providing comfort and support to families in need during challenging times.
An accomplished architect, Ronald was a loving father who cherished family life by the lake. He wasn’t a fan of flying, which meant our summer vacations were either spent enjoying the lake or embarking on long, winding road trips. We may have never seen Paris but knew every gas station between our vacation destinations. His passion for buildings meant frequent stops to snap photos of intriguing architecture.
Cremation has taken place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Michael’s Church, Bright’s Grove, on Thursday, October 31st, at 10 a.m. A private interment will follow later in North Bay, Ontario. In place of flowers, memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
