Ramdeo “Ram” Satram (88) passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 20, 2024. Ram who was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 years Betty Satram (2019) had four children: Judy, Susie, Dr. Dave and Radha Satram. Father-in-law to Dr. Susie Sioutis and cherished grandfather to Arianna, Larissa and Evangelina. Ram is survived by his sister Basdaye Ramsawak (Kheju) of Trinidad and was predeceased by siblings Ragoonanan Satram (Rosie), Ramdai Ramhit, Samdai Nandlal, and Ramdeen Satram (Deokie). He was loved by a very large extended family. In 1967, Ram immigrated to Sarnia from Trinidad by himself to secure a home and job before his wife and family joined him a month later. He was a founding member of the Sarnia Hindu Society. He was a lover of antique cars, photography, an avid gardener, enjoyed hosting family and friends and travelling to many countries around the world. We extend our gratitude to the caregivers and staff at Marshall Gowland Manor, the VON and MGM Day programs, Bayshore and Home and Community Care Support Services Erie St. Clair for their care and support of our father. Family and friends will be received at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home on Friday, May 24, 2024, from 12:45 to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services to be held from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. A live stream will be available at the start of the funeral service and can be found on his memorial page. Cremation will follow at Resurrection Cemetery and Crematorium, 1885 London Line, Sarnia. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to a charity of your choice.
