Shirley Amelia Haggerty of Wallaceburg and formerly of Cobourg passed away peacefully in Wallaceburg on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at the age of 94. Shirley is the daughter of the late Harry Platt and Freda Winnifred (Turnbull) Pearsall. Loving mother of Janice Lacroix (Jean Louis) and Keltie Jacques (Scott). Dear grandmother of Robert (Jessica), Jonathan (Tabitha), Danny and Greg, step grandmother to Daniel (Kelly) and Denis (Andrea). She was a loving great grandmother to Addison and Alexander. Shirley was the wife of the late Jack E. Ackerman and Garthowen M. Haggerty and sister of the late Percy Pearsall (Marjory). She leaves behind nephews and nieces and their children.
Shirley had nursed many years, primarily at Belleville General and Cobourg District General Hospitals and was proud to have been involved in the education and training of young nurses. She was the consummate professional who cared deeply about healthcare and fighting for better long-term care in Ontario. The family wishes to thank the staff at Oak’s Retirement Village for the wonderful care and friendship that Shirley received in her time there.
Shirley will be interred in Glenwood Cemetery in Picton. Details to follow.
