Suddenly after a tragic fall at home, Don Riley passed away at Bluewater Health at the age of 79.
Don is predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Wanda (2023). Loving Father of Brad (Dawn), Ray, and Shawna Riley. Dear Grandfather to Casey Hare, Cole, Brett & Paige Riley. Michael, Chelsea & Kyla Chiovitti. Great-Grandfather to Xander Hare.
Don is survived by his brother Bill and sister MaryAnne Laviolette. Many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents William and Frances Riley, Siblings Jim, Joe, and Len Riley. In-laws Raymond and Verna Drysdale, brother and sister-in-laws Marilyn, Wayne, and Verna Rae Drysdale, and grandson Devon Riley.
Don retired from Bayer after many years as an onsite security guard. In 1998, he was acknowledged for is bravery during a bomb search at Bayer. Don was an avid fisherman who loved being on the water. A disappointed Toronto Maple Leaf fan who also enjoyed watching the local Sarnia Sting. Don was a simple man who loved his family and grandchildren deeply.
The family wish to thank Chuck Strevel, Sarnia EMS, Police and Fire Services. The neighbours on Sycamore that have helped Don after Wanda's passing. A special thank you to the entire ER Team at Bluewater Health for their compassion and care for Dad.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday April 7th, 2024 beginnging at 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 .p.m. at The Royal Canadian Naval Association (Navy Club), 1420 Lougar Ave, Sarnia, ON N7S 5N4
