BARRETTE, Leonard

Peacefully, surrounded by loving family, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at Marshall Gowland Manor, Leonard Barrette passed away at the age of 89. Beloved husband of the late Agnes Barrette for 63 years. Loving father of Cindy Barrette-Westendorp (late Bruce), Lenora Barrette Miller and Tammy Ferguson (Ron). Cherished GPa of Mickayla Westendorp and Isaiah and Sasha Miller. Dear brother of Edna, Leona, and Virginia. Predeceased by his parents Seville and Angelina and by his siblings; Orval, Lorraine, Victor, Felix, Agnes, Rose, Jean, Norman, Paul, Richard, Vince, Deanna, and John. Len was a proud member of UA 663 for 70 plus years. He loved his trade and specialized in pipefitting and welding. He would tackle any project, big and small, and would do so with perfection. In every task he undertook, whether it was repairing a leaky faucet or renovating a home, Len poured his heart and soul into his work. He approached each project with precision and care, refusing to settle for anything less than flawless. His workshop was his sanctuary, where every tool known to man could be found, and where he honed his skills and transformed raw materials into works of art. Beyond his work, Len was a devoted and loyal family man. He loved nothing more than to be camping with his wife and children and to travel from coast to coast of Canada, explore many states, and enjoy a Disney trip or two. He and Agnes owned and operated Sarnia Sport Satin Sewing and created many intricate and beautiful jerseys for Sarnia’s many sport organizations. The family wishes to thank the incredible staff at Marshall Gowland Manor for their exceptional care for Dad. The kindness and empathy displayed to him through his stay made it easy for him to consider it “home”. Cremation has taken place. A private family service was held.

Sympathy may be expressed through donations to St. Vincent de Paul (cheques only at the funeral home please). Arrangements entrusted to Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia.
