Public input sought for potential Strangway Centre gymnasium

City officials are looking for public input on design ideas for a potential gymnasium addition to the Strangway Centre.

City officials are looking for public input on design ideas for a potential gymnasium addition to the Strangway Centre.

“We’re looking intently at how we can improve the Strangway Centre and its community program offerings,” said Parks and Recreation Manager Krissy Glavin. “We want to ensure those improvements reflect the needs of both current and future users, so we are looking to the public for their insight.”

An online project page and survey were launched Friday, ahead of a pair of in-person public engagement sessions planned for Match 28, the city said in a news release.

Possible features for the potential addition include change-rooms and washrooms, a full-size gymnasium, stage, multi-purpose seating area, and outdoor programming area.

Interested individuals can visit www.speakupsarnia.ca/StrangwayGym to learn more about the proposed changes and provide their input on the initial designs, alongside potential future programming opportunities at the Strangway Centre.

The survey will remain open until 4 p.m. on April 4, 2024. Those interested in learning more and providing their feedback in person can attend one of two, in-person public engagement sessions in the centre’s multi- purpose room on March 28, 2024. The first will run from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.; the second will run from 5 to 7 p.m.
