Peacefully on February 25th, 2024, Mollie (Mary) Kenny passed at the age of 99.
Loving wife to the late Joseph Kenny and mother to James (Jim) Kenny and the late Elizabeth (Liz) McKinley. Mollie was a devoted grandmother to Amanda McKinley (Dan Leong) and James (Jim) McKinley, and proud great grandmother to Maverick Leong and McKinley Leong. She was predeceased by her siblings Connie, Maude, Vera, Samuel, Maureen, Colin and her parents Samuel and Martha McCurdy. Samuel, Martha and family immigrated to Canada when Mollie was 2 years old from Londonderry, Ireland.
Mollie was a kind and gentle home maker and also worked at Northern high school in the cafeteria impacting the lives of many students and was recognized in the community for years to come.
Mollie was a smart, creative and resourceful person whose interests included sewing and knitting, reading and she had a green thumb with gardening and plants. She loved dogs and feeding the birds.
There’s an old Irish saying that there’s not much a good meal, a laugh and a sleep can’t cure. Mollie embodied this and was always eager to make you a brew of tea and a sandwich, make you laugh with one of her many witty sayings, and offer you a place to rest.
Mollie had a profound impact on the lives she touched, especially her grandchildren in which she played a vital role in shaping their lives.
Mollie will be greatly missed by her loved ones.
A special thanks to the wonderful staff at Trillium Villa Nursing Home in Sarnia who participated in the love and care of for Mollie these past few years.
