Few details are being released about a fatal fire in Plympton-Wyoming that left one woman dead last month.
“According to the OFM [Office of the Fire Marshal], the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” a Lambton OPP spokesperson told The Journal. No other information was provided.
Emergency crews — including Lambton OPP officers, members of the Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department and Lambton EMS — had been called to a report of an ‘unresponsive person.’
But when they arrived, officials discovered there had been a fire at the home.
At the time, the investigation involved Lambton OPP, the Lambton Crime Unit, OPP Forensics Identification Services (FIS), the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal and the Office of the Chief Coroner, police said.
In an email this week to The Journal, OFM spokesperson Sean Driscoll provided the following statement:
The Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM) was called to conduct a fire investigation to determine the cause, origin, and circumstance of the fire that took place in Plympton-Wyoming on December 27, 2023. OFM fire investigators completed their scene-portion of the investigation and are now in the next phase of the investigation, working on further testing and analysis with OFM’s forensic fire protection engineers. As the investigation remains ongoing, there is no further information at this time.
