Lambton County Museums, Archives, launch new Online Collections Database

Lambton Heritage Museum, the Oil Museum of Canada, and Lambton County Archives have announced the launch of their new Online Collections Database.

Lambton Heritage Museum, the Oil Museum of Canada, and Lambton County Archives have announced the launch of their new Online Collections Database.

Containing the digital records of more than 8,000 historical artifacts, photographs, and archival documents, the new database offers patrons the ability to search records from all three institutions at once.

The current available records represent material from each institution’s collection, with plans to continue adding records as cultural services staff digitize and upload them.

The launch of the new database coincides with the 175th anniversary of Lambton County’s incorporation.

The new Online Collections Database will serve as a gateway to the past, offering a glimpse into the diverse and vibrant history of the region, while making the history more accessible to those unable to visit the institutions in person.

While museum and archives staff continue to prepare and add new records, artifacts or documents that are not currently available online may be available through an in-person appointment.

Anyone interested in viewing non-digitized materials or artifacts is encouraged to reach out to the institution directly to arrange for research or an in-person viewing.

The Online Collection Database can be viewed at lambtonmuseums.pastperfectonline.com. More information on Lambton Heritage Museum, Oil Museum of Canada, and Lambton County Archives, including contact details and appointment booking, can be found on lambtonmuseums.ca.
