About 600 households in Lambton County will be randomly selected to participate in the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS), Statistics Canada says.
“The data from this survey is used by researchers to further understand the relationship between disease risk factors and risk conditions such as obesity, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and more,” a news release stated.
“In addition, this survey will shed light on illnesses and reveal the extent to which many diseases may be undiagnosed among Canadians, and enable health professionals and researchers to face challenges in public health.”
Statistics Canada partnered with the Public Health Agency of Canada and Health Canada 15 years ago for the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS), now in its Seventh cycle. Sixteen locations in Canada are selected to participate in the survey.
As a part of this survey, a mobile examination centre will be temporarily located at the Taxandria Soccer Club (7159 Arkona Road) on February 13, 2024 for participants to participate in direct physical measures (i.e. blood pressure, oral health, biospecimen collection, etc.), after they have completed an interview at their home.
“We encourage the participation of all those selected, to help us complete an accurate portrait of the health of Canadians,” Statistics Canada noted, adding that all personal information collected is strictly protected.
