A Sarnia Police officer has been assigned to non-operational duties after being charged with assault.
Police were called Friday to an incident involving an off-duty officer at a private residence, and as a result of the investigation, the officer has been charged with assault contrary to the Criminal Code, a Sarnia Police news release stated.

The matter is now before the courts.
