The Sarnia Police Service will host its tenth annual Cops for Cans event on Saturday, Nov. 19.
Officers will be on hand at the front entrances of the Walmart Superstore at 1444 Quinn Drive, Kyle’s No Frills at 889 Exmouth Street, and the Real Canadian Superstore located at 600 Murphy Road, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
Sarnia Police cruisers will be parked on scene with emergency lights activated so they will be easy to spot. The goal is to fill the inside of the cruisers with non-perishable food or essential household items (soap, diapers, toothpaste, etc.) for the Inn of the Good Shepherd in Sarnia, police said.
There will also be prepackaged bags of non-perishable food that can be purchased in store or you can bring or purchase your own non-perishable product.
“We are excited to be hosting this annual event to help those who are need of all the services the Inn of the Good Shepherd provides during the holiday season,” a news release noted. “We are hoping the community will come out this Saturday and support this charitable initiative by generously donating to this important cause.”
