Students from across Sarnia-Lambton punched their tickets to the OFSAA Cross Country Championships after qualifying at this week’s SWOSSAA event held in Windsor.
Northern Collegiate dominated the Oct. 26 event, with several first-place finishes and team titles, including the overall team championship.
Students from St. Patrick’s High school and LCCVI also earned their spots at the Ontario championships, to be held Nov. 5 at the Dagmar Ski Resort in Uxbridge.

The following individuals and teams qualified for OFSAA at Wednesday’s SWOSSAA event:
Novice Girls’ 4km run
6th place – Lily Bressette, Northern Collegiate
8th place – Lily Odolphy, Northern Collegiate
Novice Boys’ 4km run:
2nd place – James Grant, LCCVI
4th place – Sully Toenders, Northern Collegiate
1st place team – St. Patrick’s: Brady Colamenco (6th place); Mason Brown (7th place); Noah Waybrandt (10th place); Ashton Fraser (17th place)

Junior Girls’ 5km run:
1st place – Mikayla Portiss, Northern Collegiate
5th place – Mya Glaister, Northern Collegiate
1st place team – Northern Collegiate: (Mikayla Portiss, Mya Glaister, Alyson Laird (8th place); Shannon James (12th place); Zoe Alexander (30th place)
Junior Boys’ 5km run:
4th place – Alex Pretty, Northern Collegiate
1st place team – Northern Collegiate: (Alex Pretty, Conner Freer (6th place); Michael Ray (10th place); Aidan Arndt (15th place); Caleb Houghton (21st place)

Senior Girls’ 6km run:
1st place – Gabby Jones, Northern Collegiate
4th place – Alaina Burns, Northern Collegiate
2nd place team – Northern Collegiate: (Gabby Jones, Alaina Burns, Rebecca Haney (8th place); Sophie Victor (12th place); Sydney Edwards (20th)

Senior Boys’ 6km run:
1st place – Ryan Davies, Northern Collegiate
3rd place – Charlie Shaw, LCCVI
