The Police Services Board decided against awarding the winter maintenance job of clearing snow at the Christina Street police station to Poirier Services.

Police staff had recommended the company based on its history with the city and its prior commitment to prioritizing snow removal at the station.

But board approval was needed because the contract estimate of about $35,000 exceeded the $25,000 limit required to bypass the tender process.

A request for proposal is expected this fall.
