Sarnians have a front-row seat for a colourful spectacle this weekend known as Sailfest 2019.
The event at the Sarnia Yacht Club sees about 90 sailors ranging in age from eight to 70 competing in small one-person and two-person sailboats raced over two courses in southern Lake Huron.
Weather permitting, the races run from about 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 6 and continue Sunday until about 3 p.m.
Sailfest was started by Alice Boston and Joanne Abbott more than 20 years ago and the event remains a popular regatta with sailors from across southern Ontario because of its venue, onsite camping and friendly atmosphere.
