The season has ended for the Lambton Lions’ men’s basketball team.

The college varsity squad fell 96-81 to Niagara College in the opening game of the playoffs last week.

Despite the loss, coach James Grant said the team exceeded expectations.

“We know we were up against a very good squad… and the players worked hard to give us a chance to win,” he said.

The Lions finished the regular season with a 10-11 record and averaged 89.6 points per game.

They lost to Georgian College 110-94 in a consolation game played March 1.

Grant said he expects the entire roster to return next season.
