Sarnia Police seized almost $100,000 worth of illegal marijuana on Dec. 20 at a pot shop on the Aamjiwnaang First Nation.

A search warrant was executed at the Pot of Gold Medicals and Edibles on St. Clair Parkway following complaints from the community, including a concern marijuana was being sold to minors, police said.

Officers seized 22 pounds of bud, more than $12,000 worth of cannabis edibles and almost $10,000 in cash.

Four men from Sarnia, Aamjiwnaang and Corunna, ranging in age from 20 to 62, were charged under the Cannabis Act with possession for the purpose of sale.

The Act is intended to provide safe marijuana to consumers of legal age.

The pot at the store, in addition to being illegal, had no quality control or consideration of hygiene, police said.

City police had busted the store once, on Sept. 13, before recreational marijuana was legalized.
