Sarnia Police Constable M. Ross speaks with a motorist stopped at a RIDE checkpoint set up Feb. 22 on Christina and Nelson streets.

“A lot of people think we only do them during the Christmas holidays,” said Sgt. Marc Toutant, who noted it seemed a good time with the popular ‘Chase The Ace’ raffle on that night at the Sarnia Legion Hall.

Officers stopped about 275 vehicles, issued three Highway Traffic Act charges, and arrested a 48-year-old for impaired driving after a breath test indicated a reading two and a half times the legal limit, police said.
