Lambton County council will consider a proposed 3.34% increase in the county levy when it meets to consider the 2016 draft budget on March 16.

The proposed package calls for $197.5 million in spending, of which $71.5 million would be raised through local property taxes.

County council’s stated commitments include a 10-year social housing capital plan and a major building campaign at Lambton College.

Council must also factor in reduced grants and Ontario’s bleak financial outlook, and uncertainty regarding local property assessment values.
