Sixty-five kilometres of sewers in the Colborne Road area will be scoped to identify problems, prioritize repairs and hopefully address a long-standing problem with sewer gas, city hall says.
Sewer Technologies Inc. has been contracted for the sewer flushing and condition assessment at a cost of $300,000, with Sarnia on the hook for one-third.
Because of the city’s flat terrain, wastewater sometimes doesn’t move fast enough and becomes stagnant, releasing smelly sewer gases.
The area around Colborne Road is a frequent source of odour complaints.
