Jordan Kyrou of the Sarnia Sting took full advantage of an unexpected opportunity when he joined Team OHL last week for the Canada-Russia Subway Series in Windsor as a late edition.
After falling behind 1-0 to the visitors, the Sting’s second round pick in 2014 tied the game midway through the second period before Spencer Watson of the Kingston Frontenacs netted the game-winner in a 2-1 victory by the OHL stars.
Kyrou replaced the injured Anthony Cirelli of the Oshawa Generals in the lineup.
Highly touted Sting rearguard Jakob Chychrun also played for Team OHL in Windsor, and wasn’t involved in the scoring.
Early speculation is Kyrou could be a mid-second round choice in next year’s NHL draft.
