A major downtown redevelopment is slowly moving forward, with confirmed plans to bring new housing to the former Bayside Centre property.

A significant redevelopment project is taking shape in downtown Sarnia, with new housing confirmed for the former Bayside Centre site.
Elevate Living, a company focused on residential development and home construction, is leading plans for the property. Housing has been identified as a central component of the project, marking a shift toward increasing residential presence in the downtown core.
While additional elements are still under consideration, the company has indicated that commercial features, such as a potential grocery store, may also be explored. Details beyond the residential component remain in early stages.
Over the past several months, the developer has gathered input from local residents to help guide the direction of the project. Feedback highlighted ongoing concerns around housing affordability, including rising rents and a lack of accessible options within the community.
The project is currently in the design phase and will require approvals from both municipal and county levels before moving ahead.
A public design reveal is expected later this year, with plans for an open house in the fall to share details with the community and gather further input as the development progresses.
