Canada-wide warrant issued in Lambton College homicide

Police have launched a nationwide search for a 24-year-old suspect in the Lambton College shooting that killed a 20-year-old Sarnia man and left two others injured.

Sarnia police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a 24-year-old man in connection with a fatal shooting at a Lambton College campus bar that left one person dead and two others injured.

Emergency crews were called to the college shortly before 1 a.m. on April 10 following reports of gunfire. Officers arrived to find three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. One victim, later identified as 20-year-old Dane Nisbet of Sarnia, sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased despite lifesaving efforts at the scene and in hospital. Two others were treated for injuries in hospital.

Police have identified the primary suspect as Kyaw “Chin” Doe, 24, of London. He is charged with second-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder and one count of possessing a firearm while prohibited. Investigators say he is actively evading arrest and may be attempting to alter his appearance.

A Canada-wide warrant has been issued, allowing police to arrest Doe anywhere in the country and return him to Sarnia.

Investigators believe the incident was part of a series of events that began earlier in the evening. Police were first called to a disturbance at a restaurant on Exmouth Street around 11 p.m. on April 9, where a suspect was reportedly seen with a firearm. The group later attended a bar on Murphy Road before arriving at the Lion’s Den pub on Lambton College campus.

According to police, an altercation occurred between two groups and escalated onto an outdoor patio area, where the suspect allegedly discharged a handgun multiple times, striking three people.

Police say there is no indication at this time that the victims and suspect were known to each other.

Three additional individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. Oudom “Richard” Bun, 23, of London, faces charges including second-degree murder and attempted murder. Ava-Leigh Lightheart, 19, of Sarnia, and Johnathan Osborne-Walsh, 19, also of Sarnia, are facing related charges, with police alleging Osborne-Walsh became involved after the shooting.

The firearm used in the incident was later recovered at a hotel in Point Edward. Investigators believe it was an illegal handgun smuggled into Canada from the United States.

Police say the search for Doe remains their top priority and involves coordination with law enforcement agencies across Ontario.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kyaw “Chin” Doe is urged to contact Sarnia police or Crime Stoppers. Authorities advise the public not to approach the suspect if seen.
