The Sarnia Tennis Club is preparing to open its 2026 season at Brentwood Park with a focus on welcoming new players through a volunteer-led mentoring initiative. This historic community hub offers six lit courts and accessible programming for approximately 400 members of all ages and skill levels.
The Sarnia Tennis Club is marking a nearly century-long legacy in the community as it prepares to open its gates for the 2026 season. Located in Brentwood Park across from the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, this year represents the club's 97th year at its current site.
The facility features six outdoor hard courts, all equipped with lighting for evening play. To maintain high-quality playing conditions, three of these courts were recently resurfaced last year. The club currently supports a robust membership of 400 people, with ages ranging from young children to active seniors in their 80s.
A new addition for the 2026 season is a dedicated mentoring program designed to help new members integrate into the club. Current members have volunteered to act as mentors, assisting newcomers in finding players at their skill level and navigating the club's various offerings. This initiative reinforces the club’s volunteer-run ethos and commitment to community connection.
While the club is managed by volunteers, specific services such as private and semi-private lessons involve a fee. The club also hosts several leagues where a small charge covers the cost of tennis balls and convenor efforts. For those facing financial barriers, the club provides assistance to ensure local residents can participate regardless of their economic situation.
Registration for the upcoming season is handled through the club's website at sarniatennisclub.com. The site provides comprehensive details on membership costs, special events, and lesson schedules. Residents can also find updates and community photos on the club’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
