It is with deeply saddened hearts that the family announces the passing of Adam Johnson on April 7th,2026 at Bluewater Health at the age of 47. Adam was surrounded by his loving family and was guided by the songs and the beat of the drum as he started his journey.
Loving father to Ethan Henry, Alec Johnson, Semiah (Miki) Kennedy and Kadence Johnson. Cherished son of Donna Smith-Sutherland and stepson of Stephen Smith-Sutherland and Randy Altiman, son of Herb Johnson.
Dear brother of Scott, Jason, Warren and Cameron and loving uncle to Trenton, Mariah, Jacoby, Tyson and Hunter.
Predeceased by his Grandma Lauretta, Grandpa Hector, Papa Pete, Great-Papa Bill and Great-Grandma Grace. Special mention to Auntie Vicki, Auntie Renee, Uncle Stan, Auntie Naomi and Auntie Edna, friends Faith & Taylor and Danah, cousins Robert & Cindy, and his family at the R.O.C.K.
Adam had many Aunties, Uncles and cousins, and chosen family from the families of Altiman, Johnson, Jones, Smith, Sutherland, Kicknosway, Peters, Chegahno, Elliott, Pedoniquotte, Lee, Hoogenes, Nadjiwon, Jewer, Myers, Rice, Shognosh, Cottrelle, Marshall, Ritchie, Henry, George’s and many other extended friends and family.
Adam was an avid volleyball player and was described by many cousins and chosen family as a protector who possessed a quick-witted sense of humour and the natural ability to sense when it was needed.
Adam loved hunting, fishing, harvesting Sweetgrass, and anything to do with the outdoors on Bkejwanong (Walpole Island) and Wiikwedong (Kettle Point).
Cremation has taken place. In keeping with Adam's wishes, a "Celebration of his life" will take place on Saturday April 18th at the Walpole Island Community Sport Complex from 11:00-3:00. Family and friends are invited to come and share your favourite picture, memory, prayer or song. Casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes for any donations to go to the R.O.C.K (Reach Out Chatham-Kent). Adam was a beloved, certified peer mentor with this wonderful organization.
