Who knew that I would agree with Bill Dennis on anything? But then, even a broken clock is right twice a day.
The idea of a comprehensive analysis of the requirements of the municipality on policing is an excellent approach. Under our current policing structure, I can find no common ground given the idea being proposed for a new $120 million police station for a municipality 75,000 people. Even Chemical Valley is smaller than it once was which does not bode well for potential population growth in our town.
I would prefer that the results of the review be made public for all to see. I do not want this change to be made in a facile manner by a vote in council so much as I want to see feedback from the people of Sarnia and get their sense as to how they feel about the change to the OPP and whether or not they support the initiative.
